Productivity is a very important part of achieving any task. You will notice that regardless of the work you do whether you are a high flying CEO of a respected company or a farmer, productivity is part of your everyday task. But do you know how to maximize your productivity effectively.
1. Take A Chill Pill Mate
You know it when you feel like crap and you don’t wanna continue working anymore. Sometimes it is easier said than done if you’re told to relax. The temptation is often to keep doing on the premise of finishing it and not think about it again. Although this might be true, a tired mind will wear you down physically and mentally and why work under suboptimal conditions?
Take a break, relax. You will be surprise what even a 5 minute break can do for your productivity.
2. Remove Distractions
What’s distracting you from completing that assignment? Are you doing something else while working on your deadline?
In the era where multitasking is highly preferred to focus, you might think that getting 2 things done at once is a good thing. I’m not saying multitasking is bad but what 2 things are you doing at once? Are you chatting on skype while finishing your essay while knowing that is your end of term assignment?
Remove ALL distractions that will potentially disrupt your productivity. Do what is more important. Remove all unnecessary distractions. Call this time quite time. Turn off your phone, computer, music. If necessary, close your room door and avoid disrupting your creative flow.
3. Create A Conducive Working Environment
What is your work desk like? Is it cluttered? Disorganized? A total mess? Are you giving the excuse that you’ve been living in clutter and therefore you are able to tolerate that and still work? You’ll be surprised what a clean organized table could make for your productivity. Any form of clutter can disrupt your creative thinking and impede progress no matter how much you can tolerate it. A well organized table indirectly helps your mind organize your thoughts and allows better thought flow and processing.
4. Learn To Say NO
Even if you could resist the temptation to be distracted, there are times when people will pile the workload on you. They might be impress with your efficiency and give you bigger responsibilities. What can you learn from here?
Learn to Say NO. That’s right. It is better to handle your existing task well than failing to accomplish your new and old task together. You might consider jotting them down on another to-do-list.
5. Plan Well My Friend
Planning is an important part of doing any task. You might be forgiven if a task has already become second nature to you like driving a car. Unfortunately life does not always introduce tasks that are familiar to you. For every task that you want to accomplish, you must start planning. Even if you don’t know how to end your task, start with an outline or a framework. You don’t have to fill in the bits. The inner workings of a plan can be done sometimes while you are doing your task.
If you think your plan is not good enough, then review it. Fine tune it so that you get the most of your task.
So what do you think of these lists of 5 things to maximize productivity? Let me know and drop me a line.
