There are literally hundreds and thousands of skin products to make you look beautiful, look younger, remove acne, give you natural facial lift, etc…the list goes on and on.  I’m literally lost if you were to ask me about the available skin products out there to make you look great and more youthful.

I’m not a skin beauty specialist but I must admit I’m thoroughly intrigued by this bustling market driven by the mass media that indirectly makes you feel inferior if you were to look less pretty.

Ok, spare me the intro but let’s get to the bottom of this. I’m sure some of you have heard of skin phototherapy. It has been around for quite some time but it’s only recently that it has started to catch my attention on how it works and why this non-invasive skin treatment is one of the most coveted forms of beauty treatment today. Could skin phototherapy be an alternative to Botox?

The answer is YES!!

Now let’s have a look into the origin of Photon LED Rejuvenation.

The Story Behind Photon LED Rejuvenation

Back in the 80s, NASA developed LED technology as a means of growing plants in space. And to their surprise they had a lot of success in accelerating plant cell renewal so they decided to explore the possibility on human cells. This research was carried out to see if they could help astronauts recover from injuries sustained during weightlessness.

The research showed that the LED light helped reinvigorate cells and speedup the process of repairing wounds and NASA’s research opened up a entire new field of anti-ageing skin therapy.

An additional benefit of this technology is the LED light helped raised the temperature of the cells through a Photo-Chemical reaction.

One thing to note about ageing skin is this, the wear and tear and exposure to the environment over the years causes cells to loose the efficiency to repair and rejuvenate quickly. Younger skin has more ability to regenerate because they have the energy to do so. LED light helps lethargic and old cells regain this energy and help with cell turnover, cell repair and rejuvenation.

Other additional benefits of LED skin phototherapy

1. Stimulate Collagen Production

Collagen is an essential protein used to repair damaged tissue and to replace old tissue. It is the substance that holds cells together and has a high degree of elasticity. By increasing collagen production less scar tissue is formed at the damaged site.

2. Increases Circulation

Phototherapy increases the formation of new capillaries. New capillaries speed up the healing process by carrying more oxygen as well as more nutrients needed for healing and they can also carry more waste products away.

3. Stimulate Fibroblastic Activity

It also stimulates fibroblastic activity which aids in the repair process. Fibroblasts are present in connective tissue and are capable of forming collagen fibers.

4. Stimulate tissue granulation and connective tissue projections,

Tissue granulation is the visible red area seen during scar formation. Tissue granulation and connective tissue projections is an important part of the healing process of wounds, ulcers or inflamed tissue.

All the 4 beneficial effects of skin phototherapy are important for wound healing and improving skin tone. It also gives you the radiant look and of course with all these effects working together, it’s no surprise you will have younger looking skin.

Now let’s look at an actual product that works really well, and that’s the Skin Physics Photon LED Rejuvenation System. You can visit their website, Skin Physics for more details. You might wanna check these products out too

Baby Quasar Photorejuvenation Light Therapy

Omnilux – New-U

If you want to know how the device looks like and how they use it, check out the video below.

You Might Have Concerns….

You might think that these products are really expensive and it’s a waste of time. You might even fear that it will not work for you as it’s all hyped up to be.

Honestly, I can’t say that it works 100% but before you get them, do your due diligence. There is definitely scientific evidence that these products work. What I can tell you is that one session of phototherapy treatment will not transform your 40 yr old skin into a 20 yr old skin. You will need at least SIX treatments before you can expect any noticeable results.

With regards to the price, the PHOTON light device by SkinPhysics will cost you AU299 (which includes the device, cleanser, activating serum and night cream). It might seem a tad bit pricey but mind you all these products are about the same price. And having a similar device used in salons in the comfort of your home saves you multiple visits for treatment which can bring you much better savings and similar results. The best results will be 8-10 sessions over a 4 week period in a salon.

An alternative to consider is Omnilux, Rejuvenation and BabyQuasar. Bear in mind that some of these products may not be as powerful as the ones used in salons, so please do a little bit of research before choosing to get them.

SO is Skin Phototherapy an Alternative to Botox?

What do you guys think?

I personally believe that it is given the fact that it is non invasive and you don’t have to endure the pain of needles and facial paralysis which doesn’t sound appealing at all to me.

Well, thanks a lot. When this phototherapy can be an alternative to botox, many will be happy. You do not have to do botox just to have the skin that you wished for. Though you really have to have patience with this one but I guess with the result that you could get, it is worth it. It is like doing it in a natural way.

      That’s right.

Phototherapy is something that works but it takes a while to see results. You also have to be consistent in using the phototherapy device as well.

I’m sorry but I think that phototherapy cannot be compared to the results that you can achieve with a botox treatment.
It’s is good, I’m not saying the opposite, but we are far away from what you can achieve now with vistabel.

      He Emma,

Appreciate your opinions. But I believe there are people out there who would prefer a procedure that is less invasive.

In Melbourne, botox is more common than Photo-therapy but I don’t think for long though since the long term damage of botox is a great problem in the end
